18-Feb-2001 -- This is one of the most accessible confluence points I have
been to. The only thing is that it is in the middle of nowhere.
Wagontire is listed as the nearest town and when you drive through it -
the sign lists the permanent population as 2.
At any rate, the confluence point is located near Alkali Lake, a
seasonal body of water which generally dries up in the summer time.
Highway 395 passes within .5 kilometers or so, but there are some dirt
sort-of-roads that will take you even closer. The ground was still
fairly wet in places and I was a little bit nervous about getting my
pickup stuck, so I only drove as close as .25km before getting out to
walk. I had no difficulty getting to the appropriate location and
getting the pictures I wanted before heading back to my pickup and
continuing my journey.
