13-Jan-2001 -- We decided to visit this confluence since it was a location easily accessible by a nearby road. We left Des Moines, IA around 2 pm and reached the site around 3 pm. The site was located about 25 feet west of the road that we drove up on.
We had two GPS receivers, a Garmin III+ as well as a Trimble Scoutmaster. The Garmin was tracking 10 satellites, while the non-parallel GPS Trimble had a lock on 5. The two units differed in position by about 10 feet, with the Scoutmaster giving us the position about 10 feet to the northwest of the Garmin's position.
It was a very blustery day with overcast skies and temps around freezing. It was our first visit to a confluence for all 3 of us. My dog Sheila thought it was too cold and decided to remain in the car.
