13-Oct-2003 -- From our last visit at 37S 59W we continued on Route Nr. 30 to
Tandil. From there we took the Route Nr. 226 in direction Azul. Shortly
before Azul we bent into the very comfortable Route Nr. 3, a main connection
from Buenos Aires until Ushuaia in Tierra del Fuego (about 3,200 km). After
a few kilometers on Route Nr. 3 we saw a road sign,
indicating a dirt road in direction Coronel Rodolfo
Bunge. This road leads quite directly to the confluence.
We passed a small lake, where a few fishermen were trying to catch fish, but
without success. According to their information fish is not easy to catch
there, and this explains the derelict of a barbecue party being certainly not from a
fish.
A three kilometers farther we stopped our car and proceeded over a young
yellow corn field towards a river. It was unavoidable to cross it.
Captain Peter,
just recently described as "idiosyncratic to difficult confluences" in an
online article by BBC, was the first to intrepidly cross the water.
When crossed the river, there were another 300 meters to go to the
confluence.
The views look all similar, and we attach the view to North and to the South.
When walking back through the yellow corn field we saw a circle, left free. A few stones were
accumulated there, and we called it "Argentine Stonehenge".
We saw only one hacienda in the area.
After this visit we drove back to Azul and took a room in the "Hotel Dior".
