20-Jul-2004 -- This is my first confluence. I drove from Perth to Broome by myself and from there to Darwin and return to Broome with my father. So I decided to do some confluence hunting along the way.
20kms south of Carnarvon I headed east on the Callagiddy to Winderie road, from the North West Coastal Highway. The excitement was building as I drove the 23kms to 114 degrees east. The sky was very overcast and it looked like it would rain at any moment. From my map it looked as if I would have about 3kms to walk to the desired spot. I had made up my mind not to walk further than 5kms.Then as I neared 114 degrees east I saw a cattle grid and I was able to head north along a fence for 3.5kms. I only had to walk 286 metres west from the fence to my first confluence. After taking the photos and the compulsary dance I returned to my car. Just in time as it started to bucket down.
