04-Aug-2007 -- I find myself at a loose end as my wife and eldest daughter have gone up to Stoke for the weekend to stay with my in-laws. So of course the obvious thing to do is to take in a confluence point.
I considered going and visiting the one remaining point I haven't done on mainland Britain yet but the weather forecast really wasn't that good. We haven't had much of a summer in the UK this year.
Casting around this seemed like a nice candidate, far enough away to be a nice drive out but close enough that if the weather turned bad it would be fairly quick to get home. As it turned out down here the weather was fine.
As previously I parked in the entrance to the industrial estate, Notley Park. Although it would appear that not everyone wants it here as the shotgun blasts on the sign will testify!
I should imagine the previous residents were a bit more welcome, this is formerly RAF Raydon, though the only thing on the runway nowadays are cars.
As i walked towards the edge of the field I notice a couple of signs. One from the local council urging consideration of the countryside and the other on a gas pipe indicating it was CP 77, wonder if they know about the project?
Rather thank just take the cardinal shots, this one is looking directly at the CP and these others show the local flora. Oh yes, here's the proof.
