19-May-2007 -- I live in Stoddard, New Hampshire my whole life. I am very interested in the landscape and wanted to go hiking to find the confluence of 43 north, 72 west. I had to hike about 4 miles off the main road near Hancock, NH. It was an unusually hot and humid day (85 degrees), so i was sweating like crazy. The horse flies and the mosquitoes were horrible. The closer I got to a swamp near the confluence, the worse they got. The hike was also very muddy because of a big thunderstorm that had passed through the area the day before. When I finally got to the confluence, i realized that someone had been there before because there was a sign that read "43N 72W" on one of the signs. But i felt happy anyway because I had finally gotten there.
