17-Oct-2009 --
I came in from the north from Salt Lake on my way to a short camping trip. As mentioned by other visitors, the confluence is easily accessible from Hwy. 50. After passing it once, and then backtracking, I found the dirt road. The gate was open. After traveling on the dirt road for about 30 seconds, I found the road a bit rough for my little Honda Accord. I knew there was not much to be gained from forging ahead (maybe .1 mile), so I backed up to the gate and began my quest on foot.
The confluence is about .67 miles away from the gate. I didn't time my route, but the path travels up and down two hills, each about 100 feet in elevation gain.
There was a cairn at the confluence. I took the pictures and left. Even though it was mid-October, it was rather hot (I would guess mid-70 degrees Fahrenheit). My neck got slightly sunburned.
