28-May-2013 -- This was the final confluence visit on my 'Mountain West' roadtrip; it was just a short detour while driving back towards California on I-15. I took US-50 eastward from I-15, then turned left onto a doubletrack dirt road, which took me just 0.42 miles north of the confluence point. This actually turned out to be a suboptimal starting point, because it required hiking down a steep, sandy hill en route.
Instead, as I learned later (while returning from the confluence point), a better place to park is at [39.00621,-111.99960], which is just slightly farther away from the point: 0.43 miles. It turns out that there's an old road cut here that's partially drivable; by walking along the rest of this road cut - with little change in elevation - you'll easily get to within 400 feet of the point.
Alternatively, if you have a low-clearance vehicle, you can just park alongside US-50, which ends up passing just 0.68 miles from the confluence point. (At least one of the previous visitors chose this option.)
The confluence point lies on top of a small ridge. There's also a small rock cairn left by previous visitors (grumble!).
