17-Apr-2010 -- The day before reaching 41-101, I had taken the National PS Exam for licensing as a Land Surveyor and the state-specific test for Nebraska. I had the goal of reaching at least one geodashpoint and one degree confluence on the way back...a fitting end of our trip. We left I-80 at Hershey and made our way south along the Hershey-Dickens Road. Except for a small zig-zag in the road, the highway was straight (probably from a correction/error in closing a township). We passed our latitude, turned around and stopped at a point where the highway crossed 41N. From the highway, the center of the car was parked at about 99 meters.

I ventured out to the confluence with the help of Catherine pulling the fence wires apart. She stayed back with Tressie. I walked out into the grassland (cattle grazing land) and easily made it to all zeroes. While at the confluence I did not see any cattle, there were some in the same field within a mile north.

I came back to the car and took out Lily the Dog and the tripod. Lily got to stretch out. I set up the camera across the highway and with the timer took some family shots with the confluence in the background. We loaded back up and made it back to I-80. We tried 41N 102W, but I saw a fenceline, No Trespassing signs, and we needed to get going...maybe sometime. I also realize this is the first confluence I've reached with our new Canon digital SLR, 12.2MP.
