22-Jul-2015 -- Having visited Achill island yesterday and forgotten to notice that there was an easy CP (54N 10W) going begging, and having not visited a point for 18 months, I made sure that I did not miss this easy one on the way to Dublin from Sligo. The detour from Carrick on Shannon took less than 1 hour all told - not bad!
We followed the GPS to the corner of the two roads as mentioned in previous reports and since there were two men in deep conversation just near the point we decided to save our shoes from the bog and put up with the 7 metre distance from the point by staying on the road.
As described earlier, the CP lies inside a rough patch of land on the edge of a field - only a few metres from roads either side. We leant over the nearest hedge and took the photos - the GPS claimed that we were seven metres from the point with an accuracy of 3 metres. After taking the photos we returned the 10 km to the N5 and resumed our journey to Dublin.
As can be seen from the photo - the new house is now well established while the old barn near the point has reached equilibrium and is likely to take a long time to deteriorate much further.
