01-Nov-2015 -- I spent this weekend at my aunt and uncle’s house in Munich. On this bright and sunny Sunday (which is rare weather for November), I proposed to make a day trip to the historic town of Weißenburg and also visit this confluence point which is located just 4 km from the old town.
We arrived by train at Weißenburg around noon. Our table in the restaurant was reserved for 1 PM. This gave me a one-hour window to run to the confluence point, document it and return into town. For me, this was an interesting challenge. Equipped with smartphone and GPS, holding one device in each hand, I started running and simultaneously navigating. Overcoming the beeline distance of 4 km needed a track of 5 km. In addition I had to climb a mountain and find my way through a labyrinth of forest tracks.
However, I arrived at the confluence at half past twelve. It is conveniently located right next to a forest track in a conifer forest with scattered beech trees. Very close by are staples of logs and a forestry raised hide.
Right after the visit, I ran back to Weißenburg and reached the restaurant at 1:05 PM. After lunch, we visited the beautiful town.
