18-Jun-2004 -- On my way to 49N 11E I first visited the Bürgermeister-Müller-Museum with its interesting fossils in the village of Solnhofen in the Altmühltal, the place of discovery of the Archaeopteryx.
The confluence area in the Weißenburger Forest, which is part of the Altmühltal Nature Park, can be easily reached by walking from the city of Weißenburg in the NNW or from the village of Haardt in the SW, which I preferred.
After about 2 kilometers I reached the CP which is located between trees directly besides a raised hide at a dirt road (hiking trail number 11).
Having taken the obligatory pictures and recorded a panoramic video, I headed off for a short break in Eichstätt (bishop’s see and catholic university) before proceeding to 49N 12E.
