03-Jun-2017 -- When I wrote my report of my visit of the Confluence Point 44°N 12°E, I expressed my hope to visit the Confluence Points along my home longitude 12°E in Scandinavia one day. I never planned to go there for a dedicated visit. However the circumstances changed unexpectedly: my employer offered me to work in southern Sweden for several months and I accepted. Now the Confluence Points were in reasonable distance.
I dedicated the long weekend from 3 to 6 June (6 June is the National Holiday in Sweden) for my visit.
The first Confluence Point turned to be much easier than expected: in Grandalen I left the main road and turned on an unpaved forest road, which was in good condition for my sedan car. After some kilometres my GPS receiver showed that the Point is 40 metres west of the road. I pulled off and walked due west to the foot of a rocky hill. I was not in the mood to climb the hill and took some photos in a distance of 30 metres to the Point.
After that I returned to my car, had a refreshment and was not really satisfied with my achievement. I checked the situation and found a small trail to the top of the hill, climbed it, went down the other side, went in a stream bed a bit north and finally found the exact point some metres north of the hill. Here I took more photos and my GPS receiver showed all zeroes!
After this successful visit I continued the forest road and enjoyed the beautiful landscape scattered with idyllic lakes. I finally left the unpaved road and entered the motorway E6 in order to drive to my next planned Confluence Point for today: 59°N 12°E!
