31-Jul-2017 -- I'm in Sweden for the Nordic Amateur Radio Direction Finding championships. Despite having run a long way today, this nearby confluence was too tempting to miss. The walking route up from the public highway passes along a forest road and then directly through an area where trees have recently been clear felled - tricky going.

However, the confluence is in beautiful naturally regenerating woodland - the soil is very thin here and not too many berries. I seem to have missed the season for Bilberries (Vaccinium myrtillus, or related species) though these bushes form the majority of ground cover.

Every few hundred metres one comes across a hunting shelter - complete with brazier and plastic seating. I guess the main target will be Älg (moose) - the move from selective logging to clear felling has made lots of nice open Älg habitat and population control has been found necessary.

Coordinator's Note: The Moose hunt is not just an important tradition in Scandinavia, it is also a big source of income for local landowners in many remote areas.
