#1: View East--"Welcome to Arizona"

(visited by Michelle Lincoln and Eric C. Lincoln)

16-Feb-2001 -- After a day in beautiful Zion Canyon, we decided to visit Zion's plateau country. In order to descend into the canyon from the east entrance of the Park, we drove south of the Park proper, (not so coincidentally) passing this confluence on the way.

The confluence itself was about 100 meters west of Hwy 59, and less than 10 meters south of the border road Uzona Avenue (a fancy name for a red dirt lane). We parked the car, crawled through a missing section of barbed wire fence onto BLM land, and easily located 37N 113W.

The most exciting view here is to the north--or would be if Hildale, Utah wasn't in the way. An unobstructed shot (taken from the highway just south of the Arizona border) to the north gives just a hint of the spectacular red rock scenery for which Southern Utah is famous.
