07-Apr-2001 -- When I got up this morning and saw the bad weather first I wanted to stay at home. But than I said to myself: you have organized everything for today. Do it!

I got in my car and two hours later I arrived in Wunsiedel, a small village near N50 E12. I changed direction to the castle "Luisenburg" and stopped my car an the parking area of the hotel "Waldeslust." From there I followed a forest road, which lead me up the mountain. For a better orientation I used a map from the Bavarian Topographical Institute, scale 1:50.000.

After half an hour I reached the area with the Degree Confluence. It started raining. Monitoring my GPS I followed the lane indication arrow. First it seemed that the point is directly in the forest. But than I discovered the small forest road which I was looking for. In that area there are many small forest roads you can not find in the map and so orientation is a little bit difficult. I followed the path. It was still raining.

After 70 meters the receiver told me: here is N50 E12. I took some pictures of the point and the environment (sorry for the bad quality of the pictures). There was nothing interesting to see, only pine trees and so I didn't waste time and turned back to my car. I arrived there ....and it was still raining.
