29-Apr-2001 -- This confluence is located a one hour drive north of Berlin. On the way we passed by Wandlitz - here the former heads of the East-German state DDR lived. Now the area has been converted to a old-age home.
The confluence is located right to the side of an open pit sand mine. From
here several now defunct conveyors moved the sand to a nearby plant. No
exact use could be understood. Here is a patch of a small commercial area
with a federal police station right at its border. As we approached the area
by car all we hoped that we would not need to go into the heavily fenced
location. As we drew closer we passed the Helicopter landing spot and found
the confluence right on the police property.
It was two days before the May-Day. This is a time that gives riot-police
an extra work out in Berlin. So the officers were a bit nervous with us
crawling around.
