01-Jul-2006 -- I couldn’t resist visiting 42N 88W, since it’s so close to Chicago, where I often spend the summer. Even with the awful traffic on I-90, it took me less than an hour to drive out there. On the way back, I avoided much of the traffic by returning via I-190 instead. Most of the traffic is made up of people waiting to pay the 80 cent toll, but the Touhy Avenue exit is only a quarter mile past the tollbooth. I couldn’t help feeling like I waited for 30 minutes in traffic so that I could pay money for the use of a small stretch of road! The return trip took less than a half hour.
I can’t contribute much in the way of information to this confluence – it’s been visited many times in all seasons. But I decided to take some photos and stitch them into a panoramic collection. There’s one of each side of Brantwood Avenue, as well as a circular panorama taken about 20 feet southwest of the confluence.
This confluence is less than 4 miles from O’Hare airport, making it an easy side trip for anyone visiting Chicago!
