18-Nov-2009 -- During our visit to Myrtle Beach in South Carolina, Sandy, my wife and I, planned to play golf Nov 18, 2009, but it was pouring rain. We looked at the confluences in South Carolina and visiting the nearest one … 34N 79W looked very easy… located on a road! Compared to previous confluences we have visited, this sounded too good to be true.

So, with time on our hands, we decided to visit the 34N 79W confluence

We drove about 50 km from North Myrtle Beach on highways and paved roads and then to a country dirt road called Bluegrass Road. At the approximate confluence, we stopped on the side of the road and walked around trying to zero out the GPS. Within minutes a southern gentleman from a nearby house drove up in a pickup truck and asked if we were in some kind of trouble. We assured him we were OK… just locating a confluence. He drove off and no other vehicle appeared on the road for the next 20 minutes

We were there about 20 minutes trying to completely zero the confluence on the GPS which was very difficult… probably because it was overcast. We also took a few pictures.

Although this confluence has been visited before, we always have a sense of accomplishment in visiting one. This was our fourth.
