23-Apr-2001 -- As a believer in Destiny, and one of those folks who actually
gets a kick out of watching the odometer turn over, I knew
that it was my obligation to pick up at least one confluence on
a recent trip to Atlanta. The chances of my seeing the USA Today
article just a few days before my trip through one of the few areas
on the east coast of the US where there were unpictured confluences
was more than a coincidence. As my fate had already been determined,
and knowing that a couple of other folks may have seen the article,
I took a brief detour. I found the location fairly easily
on the ditch bank of a dirt road (Bluegrass Road) just west of
Gurley, SC and SW of Loris, SC. I tried to park close enough
on the narrow dirt road so that I did not have to walk too far.
I just had to stay clear of the guy operating the road grader.
I didn't have to present my permission request to anyone as
there appeared to be no one home at the house up the street. I
did have to exchange pleasantries with the guard dog however.
