05-Jun-2012 -- This would be the seventh of twelve successful visits on a clockwise loop east of Colorado Springs continuing from 39N 98W and would be the fourth of seven on this day. It would also be the eastern limit of my travels. This adventure continues into next week where I will travel west in an attempt to create an unbroken line of 26 confluence visits along 38N from 123W to 98W. Keep reading!
This confluence can be successfully visited from Morgan Avenue about 80 meters due south. I parked about 120 meters away to avoid walking through a wet grassy drainage ditch on the side of the road.
This confluence is much like the one immediately to the north – although it might have been just a bit flatter. These flatland confluences were almost becoming too easy and very similar - simply park nearby and walk a short distance to zero them out. Todd Barber’s narrative of his adventure with Steve Adams proved to be an entertaining and informative pre-confluence read!
Wheat was being harvested to the northwest and a tractor was driving in the field to the south. A large grain elevator complex was visible to the northwest and a farm house is visible off to the east.
Picture #6 shows a TerraSync screen shot on the left captured at the confluence and the resulting Pathfinder Office post processed GPS data on the right.
It was time to continue west towards 38N 99W!
