26-Jul-2015 -- My final Degree Confluence Point of the day - just before arriving in Graz - was to this trivial point that lies on a paved road. This was a fun point to visit, because the drive took me along a series of very narrow paved roads that meander through some delightful (almost ‘fairy tale-like’) Austrian countryside, lined with tidy rural homes.
The confluence point lies on a road, next to a row of country houses. (The nearest house appears to have been painted in the last couple of years; it is now yellow, rather than green.) I took my photos quickly to avoid disturbing the residents, who may well still be confused about why so many people are stopping to photograph their home.
A warning to future visitors: The western edge of the road - in the area of the confluence point - drops off sharply into a field. I made the mistake of trying to park on the western edge of the road, and my two right wheels got stuck. I had a lot of trouble getting my car back onto the road afterwards.
After visiting the point, I made a short detour to visit the nearby
Riegersburg Castle, which is perched spectacularly on top of a bluff. (Unfortunately the lifts to the top of the bluff had closed for the evening, so I wasn't able to get to the top.)
