(visited by Philippe Burtin and Antonella Burtin)

09-Sep-2023 -- We visited N49 E9 during a trip to the city of Heidelberg as it is the closest CP to this town.

The point is in a forested area and is very easy to locate and to reach as well because the area is criss-crossed with hiking trails. There is also a very convenient parking area (wanderparkplatz Baiselberg) devoted to hikers some 650 meter ENE of the point. It has been visited 20 times already. The CP is also described on an information billboard, featuring the cities stringed along the same latitude and longitude. That sign was already present in visit n°2 by Herbert Ade-Thurow back in 2000.

The historical city of Heidelberg is located 50 km NW of the point. It is world reknowed for the University it harbors, founded in 1386 and germany's oldest university. The city is also famous for her castle romantiquely overlooking the Neckar river. The construction of the castle started in 1294 and it was ruined by the french army in 1689.
