11-Oct-2001 -- I hate to submit another attempt, but I’m going to for this DCP because the photo of the sunset turned out so great.
I knew when I parked the car that I would have to hurry. I walked and ran. I watched for the zeroes to come up as the sky grew darker. My hopes were high. I saw all the zeroes! Hurray, I made it! But ... then I saw that I was at 37 00.000 North and 114 59.000 West. Drat. I still had another minute of arc to go. I went a little further, but fear soon got the best of me. I knew there would be no moon and I had no flashlight. So I took photos and returned to the car.
This is definitely NOT Great Basin geography. The soil was white and rather soft. The plants were sparse and thorny. I had approached from the North. The only real water I had seen was in the Pahranagat National Wildlife Refuge, a very beautiful place.
I hope to return. It was a great day.
