27-Jan-2002 -- Prolog: When I was looking at the stories of other CPs in Germany and the Netherlands I always wondered that many people choose bad weather for visiting a CP. Often in winter they had cloudy or even rainy weather. I should have chosen nice weather instead...
The day: it was the first day feeling better after having spend a few days in bed with a cold. In the morning I did some work that was still lying here (time goes by if you don't feel good but work doesn't). After that I asked my self what to do. I remembered this confluence thing and checked out where the closest CPs would be. I decided to find N54E10 as my first one. You ask me for the weather? Take a look at the pics - cloudy, rainy but not cold. The typical CP weather I had seen before...
The trip: on the map I saw that this CP was about 80km away from home. I choose an easy way to go there and to look for a nice way back. If you see my car on the pictures you can imagine what "nice" ways may look like. The first visitor had given a good description of the environs so the field where the CP should be was easy to find. But then I took another 15 minutes to look for a nice way to drive as close as possible. I found this way you can see on the picture.
The confluence point: Nice feeling walking around looking at the GPS and see the numbers running: N...000E...999, N...999E...998, N...999E...999, N...001E...000 ... But at least I found the right place. Cool! I placed a stool to mark the CP. Nice! Then I took the pictures. (One stupid thing: I forgot the remote control of my digital cam to take a picture of me at the CP)
The way back: Ok, I didn't go any nice ways... I decided to go straight back. I wanted to see if my pictures are ok. And I had to try making a panoramic picture...
The feeling: It is nice to have visited my first CP. Next ones will be around here in germany. But I have already plans for CPs far far away...
