23-Abr-2011 -- Era la mañana del 23/4/2011, sábado de pascua, y según lo planificado salimos a las 7:30 a.m. del Hotel Oasis en N10 03 22.7 W64 43 24.0. Habíamos pernoctado la noche anterior luego de pasar las vacaciones de Semana Santa en la Isla de Margarita.

El plan era visitar los puntos de confluencias N9W64 y N9W65, además de ver la posibilidad de encontrarnos con otro grupo de cazadores. Entonces junto con mi grupo de acompañantes: Mónica Amaya, Emanuele Vecchio, Gabriele Vecchio, Alicia González y Luis Carlos Echeverri, partimos con destino al punto de confluencia N9W64, siguiendo la ruta que ordenaban mis GPS (Nuvi 885T y Oregon 550).

Esta confluencia ya había sido visitada por varios amigos, y con los relatos previos reportados y análisis de la vía en la computadora, no esperábamos mayores sorpresas.

Varios compañeros cazadores de confluencias del grupo GPSYV estaban en actividad por el estado Anzoátegui y ya habían cazado la 8°N 65°W el día 22/4/2011 y se dirigían este mismo día a alcanzar la confluencia 9°N 65°W, la cual también era mi objetivo pero en la tarde.

El recorrido fue hacia el Sur por la Troncal 16, hacia la zona donde se encontraba nuestro objetivo fue tranquilo, disfrutamos del paisaje y la fresca mañana. Pasamos cerca de las poblaciones de San Mateo, Anaco, Cantaura, y al llegar a N9 02 05.1 W64 18 11.5 dejamos la Troncal 16 y tomamos la vía hacia el Sur Este que nos empalmó con el Distribuidor El Tigre Punta de Mata en N8 57 22.6 W64 08 44.3 que nos direccionó hacia la vía San Tomé –Punta de Mata, y el GPS nos direccionó perfectamente hasta el Portón de entrada N8 59 32.1 W64 01 26.4 a la finca donde estaba ubicado nuestro objetivo.

Durante el acercamiento al portón, ya venía alertando a mis acompañantes que este podría encontrarse cerrado, y que solo podríamos dar una espera de 15 minutos. El plan A, era por supuesto, llegar con el vehículo lo mas cerca posible TODOS y alcanzar como grupo los ceros, si y solo si el portón estuviera abierto.

El Plan B, era que solo un grupo entrara, y los que decidimos seguir fuimos los hombres, y las mujeres se quedarían en el vehículo.

Al llegar a eso de las 9:45 am al famoso portón, este se encontraba cerrado con candado, y el plan B, que ya teníamos pre-establecido, era que solo un grupo entrara, y los que decidimos seguir fuimos los hombres, y las mujeres se quedarían en el vehículo. Para poder tomar esta decisión el tiempo era importante, no podíamos perder demasiado tiempo esperando al encargado de la finca, por lo que durante el alistamiento de los cazadores, unos 15 minutos, no hubo novedad, y entonces emprendimos la caminata Emanuele, Gabriele, Luis Carlos y mi persona a plena mañana con un radiante sol y temperatura cercana a los 30°C, el punto nos quedaría a unos 2,8 km en línea.

Nos alistamos con botellas con agua y otras bebidas, radios walkie talkie, teléfonos celulares, cámara, GPS e iPad, emprendiendo la nada grata caminata hacia la confluencia bajo el sol radiante. Al igual como lo reportaron los cazadores previos, el camino tenía pedazos de arena que tratábamos de evitar para poder caminar más rápido. También notamos algunos pedazos que parecían asfaltados, lo que nos hacía pensar que alguna vez estuvo pavimentado. En el camino nos encontramos un antiguo balancín petrolero medio desmantelado.

Todo parecía una copia de lo vivido por los compañeros de la visita No. 6, y cuando ya faltaba poco más de 200 metros para llegar a nuestro destino, encontramos otro portón cerrado el cual cruzamos y caminamos un poco más al norte hasta encontrar el paso certero al este por entre un alambrado de púas y nos hicimos paso a través de unos matorrales secos. Divisamos las huellas de un vehículo, que tuvieron que ser los del compañero Oscar González, en la visita #8, y cruzamos fácilmente una sabana y así llegar al punto de confluencia. El cielo estaba despejado, y nuestros GPS daban buena precisión y full señal. Se toman las fotos respectivas bajo el inclemente sol, que desesperaban a Emanuele y Gabriele, quienes ya casi habían agotado todas las bebidas que se llevaron. Finalmente procedimos a regresar al carro donde nos esperaban Mónica y Alicia, las cuales ya estaban alertadas del caos de los niños y nos esperaron con más bebidas frías para recuperarnos, así como un sabroso snack. El trayecto completo hasta la confluencia y de vuelta nos tomó casi dos horas.

23-Apr-2011 -- It was the morning of 23/April/2011, Easter Saturday, and according to the planned Saturday left at 7: 30 a.m. of the Oasis Hotel in N10 03 22.7 W64 43 24.0. We stayed the night before after spending the Easter holidays in Margarita Island.

The plan was to visit the N9W64 and N9W65 confluence points, and also see the opportunity to meet with another group of hunters. So along with my Team: Mónica Amaya, Emanuele Vecchio, Gabriele Vecchio, Alicia González and Luis Carlos Echeverri, departure starting with destination to the point of Confluence N9W64, following the route that handing my GPS (Nuvi 885T and Oregon 550.

This confluence had already been visited by several friends, and with the previously reported stories and analysis of the path on the computer, we did not expect major surprises. Several fellow hunters of confluence of the GPSYV group were active by the Anzoátegui State and had already caught the 8° N 65° W day April/22/2011 and heading the same day to reach the 9° N 65° W, which was also my goal but in the afternoon.

The tour was to the South on Troncal 16, towards the area where our goal was quiet, we enjoy the scenery and the fresh morning. We passed near the cities of San Mateo, Anaco, Cantaura, and arriving at N9 02 05.1 W64 18 11.5 leave Troncal 16 and take the road to South East which we merged with distributor El Tigre Punta de Mata in N8 57 22.6 W64 08 44.3 who led us onto the track San Tome - Punta de Mata, and the GPS showed us the right directions to the entrance gate at N8 59 32.1 W64 01 26.4 to the farm where our goal was located.

During the approach to the gate, already had been warning my companions that this could be closed, and we could only give a 15 minute wait. Plan A, was of course, was to arrive with the vehicle the more all possible and achieve as a group ALL zeros if and only if the gate was open.

Arriving at t 9: 45 am at the famous gate, this was closed with padlock, and plan B we had already pre-established, was the one that applied to come in, and those who decide to follow were the men and women would remain in the vehicle. In order to take this decision time was important, and we could not spending too much time waiting for the owner of the farm, so during the recruitment of the hunters, about 15 minutes, there was no news, and then Emanuele, Gabriele, Luis Carlos and my person start our walk in a morning with a radiant sun and temperature near to 30° C, the CP at about 2.8 km straight ahead.

Get ready with water bottles and other beverages, two ways radio, cellular phones, camera and GPS and iPad, we start the hike to the confluence under the bright sun.

As same as others hunters reported before, we tried to avoid some sandy parts of the road to walk faster. Some rests of asphalted parts of the road, made us think that it could be paved once. At the side we found an abandoned oil-well.

Everything seemed a copy of the lived experience of co-visiting No. 6, and when we were at 200 meters from our destination, we find another locked gate which we crossed and walked a little further north to find the way to the east. We spotted the tracks of a vehicle, which had to be those of the friend Oscar González, at visit # 8, and easily crossed a savanna and thus arrive at the Confluence Point. The sky was clear, and our GPS gave good accuracy and full signal. Take the respective photos under the harsh sun, that Gabriele and Emanuele desperate, and had almost exhausted all the drinks. Finally we came to back to the car where were waiting Monica and Alicia, that were already alerted about the chaos with the kids and fortunately we had there more cold drinks to recover, as well as a tasty snack. The complete route to the confluence and back took us almost two hours.
