06-Aug-2012 -- Während des Sommerurlaubes, mit Kroatien als südlichstem Ziel, ergaben sich mehrere Gelegenheiten, Konfluenzpunkte zu besuchen. Insgesamt wurden es acht Konfluenzpunkt-Besuche in fünf Staaten. Der erste CP-Besuch fand in Tschechien, im Regierungsbezirk Okres Beroun, in der Ortschaft Nižbor statt. Es war der CP 50N 14E.

Von Deutschland kommend erreicht man auf der A7 nach Chomutov und Louny den Ort Slaný. Von der Ortsumgehung wies das GPS nach Süden, durch die Ortschaften Slánská, Kacice, Ploskov nach Nižbor. Von Norden kommend stach sofort die Burg mit dem CP an ihrer Nordflanke ins Auge. Im Ort gab es genug Parkmöglichkeiten, wir nutzten den Parkplatz neben einem Parcours für BMX- bzw. Cross-Fahrräder. Vorbei an dem kleinen Restaurant "U Lípy" an einer Kreuzung erreichten wir einen Fußweg nach oben zur Burg mit dem Hinweisschild "Zámek Nižbor". Der CP lag nur noch ca. 150 m Luftlinie entfernt.

Nach einigen Stufen und einem geschlängeltem Pfad nach oben erreicht man die Burg in wenigen Minuten. Oben markierte ein großes hölzernes Kreuz den östlichsten Punkt des Burg-Plateaus. Zum CP führte schließlich ein schmaler Pfad, der dann an einer Bank, ca. 20 Meter vom Ziel entfernt endete. Nun blieb nichts anderes übrig, als sich durchs Gestrüpp zu schlagen, um die vielen Nullen auf dem GPS zu sehen. Aufgrund der Burg im Rücken schwankte der GPS-Empfang recht stark. Doch nach einigen Versuchen glückte das Foto mit exakter Koordinatenanzeige des Konfluenzpunktes 50N 14E! Bei Empfang von fünf Satelliten lag die Genauigkeit bei drei Metern. Nach den üblichen Konfluenzpunkt-Fotos ging es noch zum Eingang der Burg. Hierin befindet sich unter anderem ein Museum für keltische Kultur. Im Burghof erprobte sich gerade eine Schulklasse im Speerwurf auf ein Wildschwein aus Stroh. Nach einer kurzen Besichtigung des westlichen Innenhofes mit den ehemaligen Stallungen ging es zurück zum Auto.

Schon war der erste erfolgreiche Urlaubs-Konfluenzpunkt-Besuch vollbracht. Nach einem erfrischenden Bad im Fluss Berounka ging es nun weiter in Richtung Südost, dem Konfluenzpunkt 49N 16E entgegen.

06-Aug-2012 -- During my summer holidays with Croatia as the most southern region there were some opportunities to reach Confluence Points. In the end there were eight CPs in five states that I visited. The first visit took place in the Czech Republic, in the county Okres Beroun, inside the small town Nižbor. It was the CP 50N 14E.

By coming from Germany you take the A7 to Chomutov and Louny until you reach Slaný. From the bypass of Slaný the GPS pointed to south, leading through the villages Slánská, Kacice, Ploskov, to Nižbor. If you come from north you immediately catch sight of the impressive castle with the CP at its northern side.

In the town there are many parking places. We choose one next to a course for BMX bicycles. By passing the little restaurant "U Lípy" at a crossing you reach a hiking path up to the castle showing the sign "Zámek Nižbor". The CP was now only 150 m away.

After some stairs and a serpentine path uphill you reach the castle in a few minutes. On top a huge wooden cross is marking the eastern point of the castle’s plateau. Finally a small path with a bank on it ends about 20 meters in front of your destination. From now on I had no other choice but to start a fight against the undergrowth.

In the end I won. But because of the huge castle walls my GPS reception varied considerably. After quite a long confluence dance I shot the picture with the many zeros and the visit of the Confluence 50N 14E was nearly perfect. It was just before noon and with the signal of five satellites the accuracy was displayed with three meters. Now I did the additional usual pictures of the site and went to the entrance of the castle afterwards.

Inside they set up a museum of the Celtic culture. On the castle courtyard a school class rehearsed javelin throwing to wild boar made of straw. After a short inspection of the western courtyard with its former stables we went back, down to the car.

So the first successful visit of a Confluence site during this holiday took place. After a refreshing bath in the river Berounka the journey continued direction southeast, aiming at the Confluence 49N 16E.
