07-Aug-2014 -- This would be the first of three confluences visited with my wife and father-in-law on a short camping trip in central and southern Colorado. We came down I-25 from Fort Collins and arrived at Baseline Road around 11am. Very heavy traffic, especially for a Thursday late morning! We parked at the corner of Baseline and Rt. 7, crossed the street, walked about 30 meters to the west along the southern shoulder, and then cut into the brush and over a small barbed wire fence. Another 30 meters had us zeroed out, made easier by the partly cloudy conditions and open setting. Traffic slowed as people gawked to try to figure out what we were doing. As Lauren was taking our picture at the site from the road, one pickup truck screeched to a halt to avoid hitting the car in front of it - kind of scary! The smell of burning rubber still lingered in the air as we waited five minutes to finally be able to cross the road and get back in our car. I would definitely say this is my least favorite confluence I've ever done - no challenge yet still semi-dangerous - but we had to do it, and hey we had a good time.
