02-Jul-2011 -- It's a lovely early summer's day and I find myself heading back down South and home. It's been far too long since I did a visit and so this one is the obvious candidate.
I didn't expect that it would look all that different so I decide to find a new route there and see what I saw along the way.
So, setting SatNav to "shortest" instead of "quickest" I was pretty sure that it would take me along the back lanes which it did.
As it turns out I wasn't disappointed, it wasn't long before I came to a ford. You don't see them very often these days as most have been replaced by bridges. From the wreckage at the side of the road it seems that a lot of drivers still don't see them.
The marker post goes to 6 feet deep though today there is only about 8" of water, still, it's solid enough when it at speed, as the former owners of those car bumpers can testify.
From there it is about 7 miles or so to the CP. There are gates in front of the road/track in to the point and it is tempting to park in front of them though you can pull just past them. This I do.
I hadn't gone more than about 50 yards when a car came along the track, unlocked the gates and carried onto the main road. Good job I parked where I did.
As expected it looked pretty much the same, as it is July the stream bed has some interesting vegetation in it. Spend about 20 minutes here, then back to the car and off home.
