20-Mar-2004 -- We are going up to my wife's parents for Mothers Day, so I decided to go up separately and take a detour to revisit this CP, it has been 27 months since I last visited.

The weather has been pretty rough for the last couple of days and the forecast today is for gale-force winds.

With the benefit of Sat-Nav I set off in what intuition tells me is the "wrong way" - still, trust the technology and follow the directions. I looped around to the right and came at the CP from the opposite direction from before.

This route takes you past historic Belvior Castle (pronounced Beaver), the land has been occupied for over 1000 years (see this site or this site)

I knew where to park this time, so I quickly made my way to the exact spot (Pic 5), the wind was gusting to 50 mph making it hard to stand up. Reaching the spot I took the 4 cardinal point photos - Pic 1 North, Pic 2 East, Pic 3 South and Pic 4 West.

Looks pretty much exactly the same as last time!

As before I carried on up to the old railway station, whcih has been here quite a while - Pic 6 - the fines were rather severe for trespass. Pic 7 is looking East along the railway from the platform of the (Pic 8) Station.

As I came back to the main road I saw that a tree had blown down onto two cars, as far as I could see though nobody was hurt.

About half a mile from the CP is the River Trent where there used to be a Toll Bridge, built in 1875. However the bridge is long gone, the old toll house is now a restaurant.

The weir (pic 9) remains though.
